Lavender Updates - Blooms and Events

TEXAS LAVENDER ASSOCIATION:  Are you a lavender grower or somone who otherwise has a strong commercial interest in Lavender?  Drop us an email for additional information.

2010

First weekend in Oct3rd Annual Texas Hill Country Lavender Festival  combined with plein-air event and silent auction.  Visit SEVEN farms this year.  Artists will be at the farms painting lavender landscapes on Friday & Saturday.  Saturday evening, move to downtown Johnson City for an artist reception.  Art will be judged and displayed at Johnson City art galleries in a silent auction that will continue through Sunday afternoon.

June 18-20 -6thAnnual Blanco Lavender Festival. http://www.blancolavenderfest.com  

2009: 

Oct 3 -  2nd Annual Texas Hill Country Lavender Festival!. Rainwater Harvesting Workshop by Blanco County Master Gardeners at noon.  Free performance by George Ensle 1-4pm.  Bring your chair

March 2:  Presentation to Comel Garden Club @ Chantilly Lace.

Mar 24: Presentation @ Lakeshore Library.

May 16:  Becker Lavenderfest

June 11-13.  TLA information booth at the Blanco Lavender Festival.

Sept 18 - Blanco County Master Gardener Meeting at our farm.

2010 BLOOM STATUS - thanks to the winter moisture: 

May 10:  Angustifolia in full bloom!  Provence is spiking in the field.  5 Year Old Garden Provence will have first full blooms in June.  

2009 Bloom Status:

June 16 Angustifolias in full bloom

July 15. Angustifolia harvested, Provence spiking in Garden.  

August 15.  Provence spiking in field. 

Sept 20.  Provence is spiking/in bloom in final field section.  Most of Garden in full bloom. Surviving through floods followed by two years of drought shows just how adaptible lavender is

Yep, that's Tex with one of his projects, a stainless steel and copper lavender distiller. There is nothing quite like the smell of essential lavender oil or hydrosol in the making.

2009: That's Tex on his newest project. Any guesses?   I'm guessing we'll be safe from floods at that height!
